INFORMATION ABOUT COOKIES

Due to the enforcement of the amendment to the “Law on Information Society Services” (LSSICE) established by Royal Decree 13/2012, it is mandatory to obtain the express consent of users of all websites that use non-essential cookies before they browse them.

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies and other similar technologies such as local shared objects, flash cookies, or pixels are tools used by web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors, as well as to ensure the correct functioning of the site.

By using these devices, the web server can remember certain user data, such as their display preferences for the server’s pages, username and password, the products that interest them most, etc.

COOKIES AFFECTED BY REGULATIONS AND EXEMPT COOKIES

According to the EU directive, cookies that require informed consent from the user are analytics, advertising, and affiliate cookies, while technical cookies and those necessary for the operation of the website or for providing services expressly requested by the user are exempt.

TYPES OF COOKIES

There are five main types of cookies:

Analytical cookies: collect information about the use of the website.

Social cookies: required for external social networks.

Affiliate cookies: allow tracking of visits from other websites with which the site has an affiliation agreement (affiliate companies).

Advertising and behavioral cookies: collect information about users’ personal preferences and choices (retargeting).

Technical and functional cookies: strictly necessary for the website’s operation and for the provision of contracted services.

PHPSESSID: Technical and strictly necessary cookie containing the session identifier. Deleted when the browser is closed.

_lang: Technical and strictly necessary cookie containing the session language. Deleted when the browser is closed.

ac_cookies: Technical and strictly necessary cookie that records whether cookie installation has been accepted. Expires 1 year after the last update.

_ga: Google Analytics cookie that enables unique visit control. Installed the first time a user enters the website via a browser. If the same user returns using the same browser, the cookie recognizes them as the same user. If they switch browsers, they are considered a new user. Expires 2 years after the last update.

_gat: Associated with Google Analytics Universal. Used to limit request rate—limiting data collection on high-traffic sites. Expires after 10 minutes.

_utma: Google Analytics cookie that records the date of the first and last visit to the website. Expires 2 years after the last update.

_utmb: Google Analytics cookie that records the time of arrival to the website. Expires 30 minutes after the last update.

_utmc: Google Analytics cookie used for interoperability with the urchin.js tracking code. Deleted when the browser is closed.

_utmt: Google Analytics cookie used to process the type of request made by the user. Expires at the end of the session.

_utmv: Google Analytics cookie used to segment demographic data. Expires at the end of the session.

_utmz: Google Analytics cookie that stores the traffic source or campaign explaining how the user reached the site. Expires 6 months after the last update.

HOW TO DELETE COOKIES FROM YOUR BROWSER

Chrome

  1. Click the Tools icon.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Show Advanced Options.

  4. In the “Privacy” section, click Content Settings.

    • Delete cookies: Click All cookies and site data…

    • Block cookies from being stored.

  5. Click Clear browsing data (empty cache).

  6. Close and restart the browser.

Internet Explorer (Version 11)

  1. Select Tools | Internet Options.

  2. Click the General tab.

  3. Under “Browsing history,” click Delete browsing history on exit.

  4. Select Delete files.

  5. Select Delete cookies.

  6. Click Delete.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Close and restart the browser.

Firefox (Version 18)

  1. Select Firefox | History | Clear recent history.

  2. Next to “Details,” click the arrow down.

  3. Select the following checkboxes: Cookies, Cache, Active logins.

  4. In “Time range to clear,” select Everything.

  5. Click Clear now.

  6. Close and restart the browser.
    You can accept or reject cookies individually in Firefox Preferences, under History in Tools > Options > Privacy.

Safari (Version 5.1)

  1. Select the Safari icon / Edit | Reset Safari.

  2. Check the following boxes: Clear history, Remove all website data.

  3. Click Reset.

  4. Close and restart the browser.
